macOS Sequoia is the name of macOS 15, which is now available for all of Apple’s top Mac desktops. Announced at WWDC 2024 and previously available through the macOS Sequoia beta, the main feature is of course Apple Intelligence. Apple has infused AI into every corner of macOS with generative tools for images and text, file organization, and more.
In addition, there’s an awesome new iPhone Mirroring feature that lets you use any iPhone on your Mac, even when it’s in standby mode. There’s a new tile feature in Windows and a new Passwords app.
To update to macOS Sequoia, go to System settings application on your device. Go to General and then Software update. Select macOS Sequoia to start updating your Mac. Note that updates may take a while to install while the update is so new, as many users will be trying to download it.
We recommend backing up all important content to iCloud. From photos to documents and apps, it’s always a good idea to prepare your Mac before updating its software.
What else comes with macOS Sequoia?
The Calculator app has been completely redesigned and will be paired with Notes for smarter number typing. Passwords, a new password manager also comes with Sequoia, making it even easier to use the Apple ecosystem. The biggest change coming to the Mac is the implementation of Apple Intelligence, Apple’s AI suite. This will make Siri much faster and more efficient, and allow you to more easily create shortcuts and customize your device. Along with this will come ChatGPT integration, which will allow you to ask the chatbot for information and advice.
Finally, the one Mac fans have been waiting for comes the program window tile that lets you snap windows together while you work. Silicon Macs will be much better.
