Apple is rolling out a system update for Apple Watches that haven’t upgraded to watchOS 26, but may have a very specific connectivity issue. Here are the details.
“Important bug fixes recommended for all users”
According to Apple, watchOS 11.6.2 fixes an issue affecting several Apple Watch models, including the Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Series 9, Series 10, SE 2, Ultra and Ultra 2, when trying to connect to emergency services in Australia.
Today’s update comes nearly six months after the release of watchOS 11.6.1.
The company also says the new release contains “important bug fixes and is recommended for all users”, but it’s not immediately clear if the bug fixes go beyond connectivity issues for Australia’s emergency services.
Whatever the case, if Apple thought these fixes were important enough to warrant a dedicated release for people still using older versions of watchOS, it’s probably a good idea to install them sooner rather than later.
