No matter how well you think you know your iPhone, there are always plenty of hidden features and shortcuts that you don’t know about or may have forgotten about. We have listed 10 useful iPhone features that are worth knowing to make using your iPhone a little more enjoyable.
Many of these tips require the latest version of iOS, iOS 26, but there are a few that work for older versions of iOS as well.
- Alarms in reminders – You can set a reminder alarm so you get a popup to snooze or cancel instead of just a notification.
- Adaptive power mode – Adaptive Power Mode is a setting you should turn on because it uses AI to learn your iPhone usage habits. If you’re using more battery in one day, it can adjust background app refresh and other features to save battery so you can use it all day. This is limited to newer iPhone models, but you can get the same benefits by adjusting which apps can use Background App Update on older models.
- Link to specific text – When you send someone a link, you can use Safari’s Copy Highlight Link feature to point them directly to the place on the web page you want them to see.
- Action button menu – You can choose one thing for the action button to do by default, but if you set it to a shortcut, you can create a multi-option popup that gives you access to several quick access buttons. It’s completely customizable and you’re only limited to what the shortcuts can do.
- Search text messages – Search in the Messages app isn’t exactly great and it can be hard to find what you’re looking for, but there’s a Messages shortcut that lets you add parameters like date and order the results with the newest messages first.
- AirPods camera – You can use the button on your AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods 4 as a remote control for your iPhone camera, and when paired with the timer function, it’s a great way to take group shots where everyone is in the frame and no one has to hold the phone.
- Snooze the alarm – With iOS 26, you are not limited to a 9 minute snooze when the alarm goes off. In the Clock app, you can adjust the snooze length to be longer or shorter.
- Podcast show highlights – For podcast fans, you can use the Podcasts app to create settings for enhanced dialogue and playback speed for each show, so you don’t have to use the same settings for each podcast.
- Snooze notification – For notifications from apps like Calendar and Reminders, you can long press the notification on the lock screen and snooze it for a few minutes, an hour, or your own time.
- Screenshots – Tired of full screen screenshot previews? You can turn them off and go back to the previous screenshot method, which saves them directly to the Photos app.
