Later this year, Apple will once again unveil a complete set of flagship iPhones. It might seem like the iPhone 17 Pro is still pretty recent, but it’s actually been five months. Of all the talk, the iPhone Fold certainly sounds the most interesting — but there are still some interesting improvements coming to the iPhone 18 Pro.
More colors
One of the wonderful benefits of switching from aluminum to titanium is the fact that it is much easier to produce more attractive colors. We saw this last year with Cosmic Orange, and Apple could choose to do even more.
Rumors are always rumours, especially when they come almost a year in advance. One Weibo leaker claims that Apple is considering three additional color options for the iPhone 18 Pro: brown, purple, and burgundy.
Amusingly, they say there still won’t be a black color option on the iPhone 18 Pro, even though it’s one color most people would like to see. However, the iPhone 18 Pro sounds like it will be much more colorful!

A smaller dynamic island
Since its introduction in 2022, the Dynamic Island has remained the same size on the iPhone, albeit with significantly slimmer bezels.
This will apparently change this year, Dynamic Island will be slightly smaller. This is largely due to the fact that some components of Face ID can move under the display. Earlier rumors dismissed the idea of a punch cutout, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Better cameras
There are two key camera rumors with the iPhone 18 Pro.
For starters, both models will potentially get an even better telephoto lens. Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro offers a telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.8, and this has been the norm for some time. We’re expected to get a wider aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro, per a leak — though they’re not going into specifics.
Additionally, Apple is considering a variable aperture for the main sensor, at least on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This will give users additional depth control and flexibility when shooting in the daytime.
apple modem
While Apple debuted its own modems for the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air last year, all other iPhone models have yet to join the fun. This is mainly because the first generation of Apple modems did not support mmWave 5G.
However, this should change with the iPhone 18. This year, all iPhone models should use the C2 chip. One big benefit of this transition is the fact that Apple’s modems are much more efficient, resulting in much longer battery life without significantly larger batteries.
Additionally, some rumors suggest that Apple’s C2 modem may support 5G connections via satellite, allowing you to have full access to data even when you’re off the cellular network. Right now, a satellite connection is mostly useful for sending text messages.
A20 Pro chip
As with almost every new iPhone, Apple will introduce new high-end silicon. Expect the new A20 Pro chip to use the new 2nm process for the very first time, resulting in a remarkable increase in performance and efficiency.
Similarly, Apple could introduce an improved network chip with the N2 after first debuting the N1 in the iPhone 17 series last year. We have no further details on the N2 at this time.

Bigger battery
Finally, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature an even bigger battery than the iPhone 17 Pro. It sounds like a no-brainer, but it’s actually happened several times that Apple has reduced the battery capacity between iPhone generations.
Early leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will come with around a 5,200mAh battery, compared to the 5,088mAh on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is not very much, but as my colleague Ryan writes: battery capacity is not everything.
With a slightly larger battery, an increase in the efficiency of Apple’s modems, and the latest generation of Apple Silicon, the battery gain could seem larger than the numbers would suggest.
Wrap
All in all, if you’re an Apple fan who skipped the iPhone 17 Pro – the iPhone 18 Pro might offer a level of polish that will make you want to upgrade.
To top it off, rumors currently suggest that there will be no price increase. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max should remain at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
