The next AirPods Pro 3 model is coming with one mentioned improvement – 9to5Mac

The AirPods Pro 3 launched just a few months ago, but rumors suggest a second model is coming this year with one key upgrade: IR cameras. Here are the details.

Top-of-the-line AirPods Pro 3 adding cameras for Apple Intelligence features and more

After having mixed first impressions of the AirPods Pro 3 due to personal fit issues, I’ve since had a completely positive experience with my ears and AirPods finally getting along.

The AirPods Pro 3 do everything I hoped for, such as improved sound quality and upgraded Active Noise Cancellation.

However, rumors suggest that Apple has one more update coming via a separate, higher-end hardware model.

The AirPods Pro 3 will reportedly get infrared (IR) cameras as part of pushing for more AI capabilities for the product.

What new features would these cameras enable?

Mark Gurman stated that “external cameras and artificial intelligence (will help users) understand the outside world and provide information. He also specifically highlighted visual intelligence as the core of the camera-equipped AirPods.”

Recently, Instant Digital reported that the new model could remove pressure-sensitive buttons from the ear stalks in favor of hand gesture support. However, Apple could also support both features. This could be useful given the growing number of features that rely on buttons on the stem.

Otherwise, these new AirPods are expected to be largely the same as the current AirPods Pro 3. However, they will be priced higher.

In other words, just as Apple offers the AirPods 4 without active noise cancellation, it seems that the company plans to offer two versions of the AirPods Pro 3: the current model and a new one with cameras.
