Part of Apple’s $50 million global supplier employee development fund
Apple today announced that it will open its first training center in India as part of a comprehensive expansion of its supplier training programs in the country.
The center will be located in Bengaluru and will operate in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The new courses are due to start in March.
Here is Apple:
“As part of Apple’s collaboration with MAHE, the Education Hub will serve as a space that connects trainers and students to learn directly from educators who specialize in the delivery and delivery of digital education, starting with digital literacy and Swift coding for beginners. Faculty from MAHE will deliver this curriculum to vendor trainers, enabling them to deliver lessons to larger groups of employees.”
In addition, Apple said it will expand training programs for supplier employees throughout its manufacturing supply chain. From the press release:
“Starting at Tata Electronics, the new curriculum will help supplier employees develop skills in digital literacy, Swift coding, robotics, automation technologies and smart manufacturing. These new courses represent the latest initiative of Apple’s $50 million global supplier employee development fund.”
Finally, Apple also announced that it will expand its vocational training program for people with disabilities in India later this year, which has “so far benefited more than 18,000 supplier employees worldwide.”
As a result of this expansion, Apple says the program will reach more supplier facilities in India and provide additional training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities, in addition to improving “safety, accessibility and inclusive practices at supplier facilities.”
