It remains to be seen which other 2026 Toyota vehicles will gain Apple Car Key compatibility. Apple’s Car Key compatibility list has not yet been updated to include the Toyota Rav4.

Apple Car Key typically allows drivers to lock, unlock and start the car using their iPhone or Apple Watch thanks to NFC. With the keys stored in the user’s wallet, vehicles can be unlocked by standing close to them or from a distance, or they can be started using an NFC reader.
Toyota’s version of this capability, meanwhile, relies on Ultra Wideband technology. Toyota Rav 4 owners will need an Apple Watch Series 6 or later or an iPhone 11 or later, with the exception of all iPhone SE and iPhone 16e models.
