Apple will soon eliminate iTunes wish lists containing movies and TV shows, according to emails sent to customers today. Apple says people who still have wish lists should migrate the items to their Apple TV Watchlist before the feature is removed.

Each email that Apple sends out contains a PDF file of the TV shows and movies that are on an individual’s iTunes wish list. Apple says users can tap each link and then tap the “+” button to make the items appear in the ‌Apple TV‌ Watchlist.

Apple began phasing out TV show and movie wishlists with the launch of iOS 17.2. The iOS 17.2 update actually removed wishlists entirely without notifying customers. People with extensive wish lists were understandably upset, and a flurry of complaints led Apple to reintroduce iTunes wish lists in iOS 17.3.

Apple wanted to remove wishlists as it migrated TV and movie purchasing options from iTunes to the TV app, and as of iOS 17.2, the ‌Apple TV‌ app is the only place to purchase TV shows and movies on iOS devices.

Apple kept wishlists after its re-introduction in iOS 17.3, but now the feature is going away. This time, Apple is warning customers, so anyone who wants to keep their wishlist should make sure to migrate it to the ‌Apple TV‌ watchlist as per Apple’s email instructions.

Apple has not given a specific date for the wishlist removal.
