Apple Music in iOS 26.4: Five new features are coming to iPhone – 9to5Mac

iOS 26.4 is packed with new features and changes, including five updates to the Music app. Here’s everything new for Apple Music in iOS 26.4.

#1: Playground Playlist

iOS 26.4 uses Apple Intelligence to power the new Playlist Playground feature in Apple Music.

When creating a new playlist in the Music app, you’ll now see the option to enter a prompt for the AI to use to automatically build the playlist. The Music app also provides suggested prompts that you can use to get started.

You can always manually add and remove songs as you see fit and make subsequent requests, but Playlist Playground provides a convenient starting point for new playlists.

#2: New design for albums and playlists

Apple gave albums and playlists a new full-screen design in iOS 26.4.

Now the album or playlist artwork will be used to style the entire playlist background and other UI elements.

So if an album has a strong blue color in its artwork, a similar shade of blue is likely to fill the entire screen. Sometimes complementary colors are also used, for example, a black background when the drawing has shades of white and gray.

Last year, Apple launched a new Ambient Music feature for Control Center. It allows you to quickly and conveniently start playing music for one of four moods:

  • Cold
  • Productivity
  • Sleep
  • Well done

Now in iOS 26.4, the same Ambient Music feature is available through a new Home screen widget. Small and medium widget sizes are available.

#4: Add songs to multiple playlists at once

iOS 26.4 makes it easy to add a song to more than one playlist at once.

There is a new select button in the lower right corner when adding to a playlist. Tap that and you’ll be able to select multiple playlists at once.

It’s a small change, but useful for times when you want to quickly add to several different playlists.

#5: Info concert

Apple stores concert information directly in the Music app in iOS 26.4.

Artist profiles in the app will now highlight “upcoming concerts” when concert information is available. You can scroll further down to see all upcoming shows.

Tap on a specific concert and the app will provide a link to purchase tickets, additional information about the venue, start time and more.
