With Apple’s 50th anniversary approaching, the Computer History Museum plans a series of programs and a temporary exhibit to celebrate the company’s history. Here are the details.
CHM to celebrate Apple’s golden jubilee with special programming
The Computer History Museum (CHM) today announced Apple@50, a special celebration of Apple’s 50th anniversary, marking the company’s founding on April 1, 1976.
Here is the CHM:
On April 1, 1976, Apple Computer was founded with a radical idea: that powerful computers should be personal. Fifty years later, Apple is one of the most influential technology companies in history—shaping not just products, but culture, design, and the way billions of people interact with technology every day.
We’re celebrating Apple’s first 50 years with special programs, an exhibition of rare prototypes, digital stories from the collection and more. Join us!
While the actual programs and exhibits are detailed, CHM offers a way to sign up to “receive special activity email alerts” about what’s coming up for the Apple@50 celebration.
Today’s news comes on the heels of Tim Cook confirming that Apple will… something to observe the half-century milestone, though the details of it remain even lighter.
These are just two of what will inevitably be a slew of announcements and initiatives around Apple’s anniversary, one of which is David Pogue’s upcoming book Apple: The First 50 Years, which is currently available for pre-order and will be released next month.
We’ll keep an eye out for more details on CHM Apple@50’s programming and opening date, but if you find yourself in the Bay Area in the next few months, it might be worth making time to visit.
