In summary:
- Macworld reports that Apple is expected to release new MacBook Pro models this month with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, along with Studio Display with ProMotion and HDR technology.
- The upcoming iOS 26.4 beta will introduce an improved Siri powered by Google’s Gemini model, which offers better screen understanding and in-app actions.
- February also brings new Apple TV+ series including “Eternity” and returning shows, plus Apple Arcade additions like “Sid Meier’s Civilization VII” with Vision Pro support.
February isn’t often a very exciting month for Apple releases – the bigger spring releases usually come in March. But this year, we have some key products and updates worth looking forward to in the shortest month of the year.
We could get the first M5 Pro and Max products and an iOS/iPadOS/macOS beta that finally includes the brand new Siri. This makes February more interesting than what we usually get from Apple.
New hardware releases
On the hardware front, several tipsters are now telling us that the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected to ship around the time frame of macOS 26.3, which we expect to be released as early as next week.
The M5 Pro and Max will be unique in that they are expected to use a new “SoIC-MH” process that will allow Apple to put separate processors and GPUs on a single substrate in a single package together. This could potentially allow Apple to mix and match CPU and GPU configurations, but it’s possible that the company is only using the technology to improve yields (and thus costs) along with thermal performance.
There may be more on the horizon than just new high-end MacBooks. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman tells us that Apple has a new version of the Studio Display in the works, due in the first half of the year, and the current supply at retailers is dwindling. This is usually a sign that Apple plans to retire the current model and replace it. The new Studio Display is expected to support ProMotion up to 120Hz and HDR.
The M4 MacBook Air is also due to be updated to the M5 soon, but inventory of that product remains stable, so the update could come in March or April.
Update applications and software
At the end of January, we got a new Creator Studio package and it came with updates to almost every app in the box – Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Freeform, Compressor and MainStage. So, not many new apps or major updates to existing ones are expected in February.
But operating systems could be very interesting. We’re on the verge of releasing OS 26.3, which offers only a few minor improvements along with bug fixes and security updates, as well as the launch of the new MacBook Pros (see above).
The 26.3 release will be followed almost immediately by the 26.4 beta, which will be a major release. iOS, iPadOS and macOS 26.4 are set to give us the long overdue new and improved Siri based on Google’s Gemini model. It will reportedly use a custom build older than the latest Gemini 3 release that runs exclusively on Apple’s servers (with some simple tasks running on the device). In addition to changes in AI models, Siri will be able to understand what’s on your screen, create your personal contextual profile to allow you to respond in a tailored way, and perform actions within apps. It should be a big jump.
But Siri will still be Siri: a phone, tablet, and computer assistant, not a full-fledged chatbot with text input and back-and-forth conversations. In the OS 27 updates this fall, Siri is expected to get another big base model upgrade and evolve into this kind of chatbot.
