Apple’s redesigned MacBook Air almost appeared in fun colors, per leak – 9to5Mac

Apple last redesigned the MacBook Air with the M2 model, and according to a supply chain leak, the new Air almost came in the funky colors expected of the upcoming “MacBook.”

M2 MacBook Air redesign tested in bright colors, like what’s coming for the new “MacBook”

Various new Apple products are expected to be launched very soon as part of a special press event on March 4th.

Among them is the all-new “MacBook” without the suffix, reviving the brand years after the previous 12-inch MacBook was discontinued.

This MacBook is expected to have a low price tag, estimated at around $699, and will be offered in a variety of “fun colors.” For Bloomberg:

Over the past year, Apple has been testing options like light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver, and dark gray — though it’s unlikely they’ll all ship.

Earlier, Ming Chi-Kuo reported that the new MacBook could come in blue, pink, silver and yellow colors.

Interestingly, however, prior to the product launch, Weibo leaker Instant Digital shared that similar colors had previously been tested for another product: the MacBook Air.

According to the translated post:

When they were developing the MacBook Air M2, they also planned to use this refreshing color scheme, but unfortunately it was not released.

The M2 MacBook Air was the last time the Air line received a hardware redesign. Every model since has kept the same design. Although Apple branched out a bit with colors last year with the Sky Blue M4.

It is not clear whether Apple already planned the arrival of a low-cost MacBook several years ago. Maybe so, which is why it changed the color options for the Air line. But it’s still an interesting observation.
