Earlier this month, Apple confirmed its successful acquisition of the mysterious startup Q.ai for $2 billion. In addition to this deal, Apple also recently acquired a database company called Kuzu. Here is a detailed list of recent acquisitions made by Apple.
Kuzu’s LinkedIn page describes the company as “an embedded graph database built for query speed, scalability, and ease of use.” For full context, Apple has its own cross-platform relational database system called FileMaker, which is operated by its Claris subsidiary.
The Kuzu acquisition that was first spotted AppleInsideroccurred in October. Kuzu has deleted most of its online presence, which is common when a company is acquired by Apple.
It’s unclear how much Apple paid for the company, but it was likely a relatively small deal. Still, it was big enough to get the European Union to add it to its acquisition list.
Under the Digital Markets Act, so-called “gatekeepers” are obliged to report acquisitions above a certain EU size.
The website on the EU website is actually quite interesting. It’s helpful to see all of Apple’s reported acquisitions listed in one place.
For example, here’s a breakdown of all the qualifying acquisitions Apple made in 2025:
- October 10, Kuzu: Develops lightweight embedded database technologies.
- August 19, Scorpio: Develops and licenses authorization software for cloud-native environments.
- May 28, IC Mask Design: Provides physical layout design services for analog integrated circuits and related training courses.
- February 11, Pixelmator: Image editing and design software for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro.
- January 24, TrueMeeting: Development of digital avatar technology.
- January 24 WhyLabs: Develops and operates tools for monitoring and analyzing machine learning models and data feeds.
- January 3. Pointable: Develops enterprise natural language retrieval systems for building custom applications of large language models.
The site is continuously updated and new acquisitions are added “no earlier than four months after receiving the information”. Again, it’s likely that Apple has made other acquisitions besides the ones listed here.
