Delayed Apple TV thriller gets new release date after plagiarism investigation – 9to5Mac

Apple TV has just added a new series to its March release calendar: the delayed thriller The Hunt, which will premiere after a plagiarism investigation.

The Hunt is coming to Apple TV after a three-month delay

Last November, just two weeks before French thriller The Hunt was scheduled to launch on Apple TV, the show was abruptly pulled from its release calendar.

Unlike the also-postponed series The Savant, which is still listed online as part of Apple’s upcoming program, The Hunt has been completely deleted from Apple’s press page and YouTube.

It didn’t take long to find out why. Apple and production partner Gaumont have reportedly become aware of allegations of plagiarism regarding the series.

Fortunately, pen Periodthis is now resolved. Here is a statement from producer Gaumont:

The release of The Hunt was delayed after it was identified in November 2025 that the project, presented as an original work, was based on an existing work, Douglas Fairbairn’s Shoot.

Upon learning of this information, Gaumont, the producer of the series, immediately took the necessary steps to identify the rights holders and obtain the required permissions.

The Hunt is now coming to Apple TV on Wednesday, March 4three months after the original date.

Here’s Apple’s official plot summary for the series:

Franck (Benoît Magimel) and his longtime friends like to spend their weekends hunting together, but one Sunday they come across another group of hunters who start targeting them without explanation. When one of their party is shot, Franck’s friends strike back and send the assailant to the ground. Barely managing to escape, the four friends keep the event a secret. Alongside his wife Krystel (Mélanie Laurent), Franck tries to return to his life as usual, but over the next few days he begins to feel that he and his friends are being followed, or worse, by hunters who are now hell-bent on revenge.
