Be surprised, but it’s looking increasingly likely that the most successful Apple TV movie to date could be getting a sequel. Here are the details.
‘Stay tuned’
During yesterday’s Apple TV press day, the company announced several movies and series that will debut on its streaming platform throughout 2026, along with the renewal of several hits.
Towards the end of the event, Apple SVP Eddy Cue held a short Q&A where he read questions from the journalists present.
As he states THRCue read the final question as he shared the stage with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, who reportedly “flew in from Europe overnight for the event”:
“I have one last question they asked,” Cue said, holding up an iPad that contained all the press questions that had been submitted to them. “It’s my favorite question of all and it’s such a boomerang because we both answer: Is there going to be another F1 movie given the success and how great the first movie was?”
Domenicali answered first. “Stay tuned,” he teased. “We’ll tell you more in the future. Never say never. But we need to digest the success of this movie more because it was something unique. And if you’re going to come up with a new one, it has to be really, really, really good. So if it happens, it won’t be next year. But maybe next year we’ll be here (at the press day) and hopefully we’ll have something more to announce.”
Cue, on the other hand, took the opportunity to promote Apple’s exclusive deal to stream F1 races in the US:
“I have a great announcement for that. We have 24 F1 movies on Apple TV this year,” he said, referring to the number of F1 races in the upcoming season. “I don’t know the ending, so it’s the best unscripted drama there is in the world.”

While the executives stopped short of confirming a sequel to F1: The Movie, they were uncharacteristically open about their willingness to work on it, which isn’t at all surprising given the film’s success and momentum.
If anything, the fact that Cue is reading this question is a not-so-subtle sign that Apple wants to keep talk of a sequel alive.
F1: The Movie is nominated for Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing at the upcoming Academy Awards and has won 15 awards so far, including winning Best Country Solo Performance at last Sunday’s Grammys.
