Apple has started a whole new generation of developer betas, with iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and macOS Tahoe 26.4 expected to include the Siri update.

After releasing the 26.3 generation updates, Apple moved to the 26.4 version updates. This means a whole new collection of developer betas that they share for testing.

The developer betas for iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and macOS Tahoe 26.4 follow the previous generation, which consisted of three developer betas and release candidates that Apple gave away on February 4.

Apple released the 26.3 generation update to the public on February 11.

The new beta might be a massive download for some, not for others. Between AppleInsider The size of the iOS 26.4 build varies among editors, but some are reporting 8 gigabyte downloads, while others are facing larger 18 gigabyte builds.

While it’s still too early to determine the actual contents of the build, a hot contender based on rumors, speculation, and code references is for Apple to finally unveil the new Siri. After the agreement to use Google Gemini, the next version could finally include the contextual features that it already promised at WWDC 2024 and in the controversial video advertisement.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly recommends that users do not install beta operating systems or beta software on hardware they consider “critical” or primarily used. Instead, they should keep backups of their data and try to use secondary hardware that is less maintenance intensive.

For regular users who want a less risky experience, Apple usually releases the public beta version of its updates shortly after the developer counterpart. A more combat-hardened version of the update, with potentially fewer bugs or issues, this is the version that interested public should try, not the developer build.
