All signs point to Apple unveiling the iPhone 17e on February 19. Earlier, YouTuber Jon Prosser shared alleged renders of the phone.
Unlike previous leaks, the renders show the iPhone 17e with a Dynamic Island on the front.
Dynamic Island on iPhone 17e?!
Several reports suggest that Apple will announce the iPhone 17e on February 19, exactly one year after the debut of the iPhone 16e. While early leaks suggested that the phone would get rid of the dynamic island, recent reports say otherwise.
Either way, the upcoming budget iPhone appears to be a minor upgrade. The biggest upgrades are likely to be a faster A19 chip and support for MagSafe wireless charging.
However, YouTuber Jon Prosser, known for his Apple leaks, has offered a first look at the iPhone 17e, and it appears to include Dynamic Island. Based on its renderings, Apple is said to be planning to offer the phone in black, white and pink.
A big upgrade to the selfie camera
More importantly, Prosser says the iPhone 17e will use the same 18MP Center Stage front-facing camera system seen on the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup. If true, that would be a big deal. The new square sensor is not only bigger, but also radically changes the way you take selfies.
There will be no other major design changes, Apple will stick with a single 48MP rear camera. The remaining upgrades will focus purely on internal improvements. This will include the A19 chip, the more energy-efficient C1x modem and built-in magnets for MagSafe.
Apple has increased the base storage on the iPhone 17 to 256 GB. But that will not be the case with its upcoming cheaper sibling. Pricing will still start at $599 for the base variant, with the 256GB model costing an additional $100.
With February 19th fast approaching, we won’t have to wait long to find out how much of this leak is holding back.
