Best prices today: Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro
$99.95
- Best for: Someone looking for a slim all-in-one solution that can complement your iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max.
- Not for: Someone who wants a cheap option with maximum charging capacity.
As magnetic wireless power banks keep getting faster, lighter and smaller, the iPhone battery case has become a rarity. However, battery case pioneer Mophie is still at the forefront of the market, and its latest Juice Pack battles ultra-thin power banks with extra protection and a sturdier design for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
After missing a few iterations of the iPhone, Mophie is back with its Juice Packs for the iPhone 15 and 16 families. The latest version is only available for the Pro, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air models. Owners of the regular iPhone 17 have to look for Chinese imports on Amazon or stick with phone cases and portable power banks.
Design: Thinner than you’d expect
Mophie (now owned by Zagg) has stuck with its preferred two-piece design for the new Juice Pack battery cases. The top section retracts to allow users to safely slide their iPhone into the large bottom section, which contains an integrated battery and a USB-C connector that the iPhone can be inserted into.
This makes installation more secure than shoving the iPhone into a one-piece case, where it’s harder to see the connection between the phone’s charging port and the battery case’s connector. We have experienced connector bending and bump charging on some of the cheaper models.

However, the two-piece design may come apart when you pull it out of your pocket, but the Mophie design feels sturdier and you should be less likely to accidentally remove the top when handling the battery case.
A physical connection, rather than a wireless one, means charging should be more efficient than you get from purely magnetic. I wouldn’t want to be taking the iPhone in and out of the case forever, because of the possibility of damaging the phone’s charging port.
Most battery case users leave their iPhone in the case, so if you’re sensitive the first time you put your phone in the case, there’s nothing to worry about.
The case is thinner – 0.76 inches or 1.9 cm – and slightly lighter compared to previous battery cases, at just 3.6 oz (98 g). Cheaper and bulkier no-name battery cases can weigh over 5oz (around 150g).

Mophie
As with almost every battery case, the color is unique, black. We found the Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro to be quite susceptible to fingerprints and fingerprints – an obvious flaw in a product that will be in the user’s hands a lot.
There are four LEDs on the back of the case that indicate the remaining battery life in the case. To the left of these lights is a Standby/Status button that must be pressed to start or pause the charging process.
Just because charging isn’t wireless doesn’t mean the Mophie Juice Pack ditches MagSafe entirely. The back side is equipped with an integrated passive magnet, which enables a firm holding of the wallet and other magnetic accessories. However, you cannot wirelessly charge the case or phone while they are inside.
The case also includes a lanyard loop.

Performance testing
Volume and weight are kept to acceptable dimensions as Mophie didn’t try to cram a 10K or even a 5K battery into the case. The Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro is equipped with a 3000mAh (milliampere-hour) battery, and the Pro 17 Pro Max model boasts a 3600mAh battery. This compares to the usual minimum of 5,000mAh in a magnetic wireless power bank, so we expected the Juice Pack to charge an empty iPhone to a lesser extent.
The battery capacity is higher than the 2800 mAh in the Juice Pack for iPhone 16.
In our tests, it gave us an average score of 55% when charging a fully discharged iPhone 17 Pro. This score from the 3K battery case is comparable to the average 70-80% charge scores we’ve seen with 5K power banks like the Belkin BoostCharge Pro.
The Juice Pack’s charging capacity should be enough to get you back to where you can charge your phone with a wall charger, but they won’t get you as far as a slim 5000mAh power bank.
Priority pass-through charging means that when charging the case with the phone inside, power is directed to your iPhone first and then to the battery.
The trade off with a power bank is that it is not as sturdy as a battery case and they don’t offer drop protection like a battery case. The Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro offers drop protection up to 6 feet. You’ll get the same or better protection with a dedicated iPhone case, but it will have to be a separate purchase alongside the power bank.

Price: Is it worth $99.95?
The Mophie Juice Pack battery case for the iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air costs $99.95 / £99.95, although availability outside the US seems scarce at the time of writing.
A decent 5K wireless power bank costs half that amount, but doesn’t do the job of a protective case that we’d always recommend for iPhone users. Check out our roundup of the best magnetic power banks for iPhone and the best cases for iPhone 17 Pro.
Mophie therefore represents good value for money, offering robust protection and an integrated battery to keep you moving.

Should you buy the Mophie Juice Pack battery case for iPhone 17 Pro?
Mophie continues to create slimmer, lighter and more robust Juice Pack battery cases than previous models, and this latest version even outperforms previous versions when charged.
If you want your iPhone to be as thin and protected as possible, a separate case with a power bank is designed for you, which is applied when necessary.
With the battery built into the protective case, you don’t have to remember to carry a power bank with you, and it works both to protect your phone from drops and bumps, and from power loss.
