The iPhone 17 Pro Max’s best-ever battery was a hit with users, and we’ve heard before that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will boast an even bigger battery. Now, thanks to a new leak, we know how much bigger.
The battery capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is even higher than that of the current reigning champion
The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max recently took the crown for the best battery life of any smartphone. OVERHANG it pitted Apple’s flagship against 34 other smartphones and was deemed the best.
However, Apple looks set to extend that lead this fall when it debuts the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
According to a new Weibo post leaked by Digital Chat Station, Apple’s upcoming model is expected to have a battery capacity of around 5000mAh for SIM slot models and almost 5200mAh for eSIM only models.
Here’s a comparison with the current reigning champion:
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 4823 mAh with SIM slot, 5088 mAh for eSIM models
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: ~5000 mAh with SIM slot, ~5200 mAh for eSIM models
Not huge gains, but like OVERHANG battery test proved, battery capacity is not everything.
The iPhone 18 range will also benefit from the new A20 Pro chip, which is expected to be more energy efficient than ever thanks to the cutting-edge 2nm process.
Additionally, the rumored C2 modem for Apple’s new iPhones is likely to come with a battery boost — just like the C1 and C1X for the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air.
Battery life is one of the most important features for the average user, and it looks like Apple plans to continue providing exactly what users want.
