There is a lot of speculation about when the next generation of MacBook Pros with high-end Apple Silicon will be released. Many thought January, then January came and went. All we knew was that they would launch alongside macOS 26.3 – which should be released in the coming days.
However, this only means that MacBook Pros must be running before macOS 26.4 is released to the public. Despite the imminent launch of macOS 26.3, the launch of the MacBook Pro is not so imminent, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The MacBook Pro will be launched in March
In today’s Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared a new timeline for the launch of the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro and M5 Max, essentially ending the speculation:
The new MacBook Pros, meanwhile, are tied to the macOS 26.3 cycle, which runs until March. M4 versions of high-end laptops are still in short supply, which is a sign that new models are coming. The product launch is currently scheduled for the week of March 2nd.
So if you were someone who was hoping for an incredibly early launch of the MacBook Pro, you won’t be getting it. However, the week of March 2nd is not too far away!
Apple tends to announce products on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday – so this will essentially lock in a launch sometime between March 2nd and 4th, assuming nothing changes.
Other nearby Macs will launch
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also reconfirms some other upcoming Mac launches. In his newsletter, he shares that after the new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro, Apple should also launch the new M5 MacBook Air, the new Mac Studio and the new Studio Display.
Mac Studio is rumored to launch with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra, while the new Studio Display should include HDR support and a higher refresh rate – either 90 or 120Hz.
Furthermore, Apple will launch an even cheaper MacBook with the A18 Pro chip – sometime in the first half of the year. The company is also planning a new Mac mini following its popular M4 model, which has been redesigned for the first time in more than a decade.
And of course, Apple will launch a redesigned MacBook Pro later this year with OLED, a thinner design, touchscreen support, and M6 chips.
Are you excited about these new Mac introductions? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments.
