Spotify has announced three big updates to its lyrics feature. The company says translations of the lyrics are now available worldwide. It also introduces offline lyrics support and an updated design for previewing lyrics right in the Now Playing view in the Spotify app.
Apple Music added offline lyrics support in iOS 26.2 last December, so Spotify is in play here. When you download a song for offline lyrics, the lyrics are automatically saved. Spotify says offline lyrics are rolling out worldwide for Premium users.
Spotify is also expanding its text translation feature, which was available in 25 markets last year. Starting today, Spotify is rolling out this feature worldwide for free and premium users.
For songs with translations available, click the translation icon on the lyrics tab and the translation will appear below the original lyrics. Translations will appear based on your device’s language, and you can easily switch back to the original texts at any time.
Apple Music added support for lyrics translation in iOS 26, as well as a lyrics pronunciation feature.
Finally, Spotify has announced a new lyrics preview design that lets you see the lyrics directly below the album art on the Now Playing screen:
With lyric previews, the words now appear directly below the album art or a short Canvas clip while the song is playing. Early testing suggests that this new layout makes lyrics easier to work with and can help listeners return to songs they’ve discovered. You can still share your favorite lines directly on social platforms from the Now Playing view.
Spotify notes that you can disable this feature at any time by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “Lyrics Off.”
