More than a week after Nancy Guthrie disappeared, the FBI released footage from a Nest camera at Guthrie’s front door. FBI Director Kash Patel says on X that law enforcement worked with “private sector partners” and that the video was “recovered from residual data located in backend systems.” Google spokesperson Patrick Seybold said The Verge that the company is “assisting law enforcement with their investigations.”
The FBI released two videos and several photos. In the first video, a masked individual with a backpack walks up to the camera and holds a glove in front of it, appearing to touch something under the camera lens, before leaving to collect something from the yard. A second video shows an individual holding a bundle of leaves in front of the camera, seemingly in an attempt to cover the lens.
The would-be kidnapper or kidnappers sent apparent ransom letters to the media last week demanding millions of dollars in bitcoins, according to People. As of Monday evening, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said “investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest or vehicles associated with Nancy Guthrie.”
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Guthrie’s location “and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.” Guthrie was last seen at her home on the evening of Jan. 31, and the FBI says she is “considered a vulnerable adult who has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker and requires daily medication for a heart condition.”
