According to him, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have a smaller Dynamic Island Bloomberg. Over the past year, there have been mixed rumors about whether the ‌iPhone 18‌ Pro models will continue to feature ‌Dynamic Island‌ or have a punch-hole camera with Face ID under the screen and no ‌Dynamic Island‌, but the latest information suggests that we won’t be getting rid of ‌Dynamic Island‌ just yet.

Together with Bloombergseveral prominent leaks on Weibo and other social networks said that Apple would make Dynamic Island smaller, but not remove it.

We heard the same rumors about a smaller iPhone 17 Pro ‌Dynamic Island‌ last year, but the ‌Dynamic Island‌ ended up being the same size. Rumors of a “Dynamic Island” surfaced in late 2025 and early 2026, and when we see a flurry of rumors from various sources about the same feature in the months leading up to a new iPhone launch, those rumors are usually accurate.

Most of the ‌iPhone 18‌ Pro rumors of under-display Face ID and no ‌Dynamic Island‌ were earlier in 2025, so either Apple considered the feature for the 18 Pro series and brought it back, or those rumors were just guesswork. There may also have been confusion about what was moving under the display and what wasn’t.

To implement a smaller “Dynamic Island”, Apple is said to place a “Face ID” spot light under the display, and rumors suggest that the company is also implementing a new camera miniaturization technology that could reduce the size of the front-facing camera. The front camera, the ‌Face ID‌ dot projector, and the infrared camera are supposed to be located in the ‌Dynamic Island‌ and will not be under the display.

Apple eventually wants to create an ‌iPhone‌ that is a glass slab without cutouts, and we may see that for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone planned for 2027, but it won’t happen in the fall of 2026 with the ‌iPhone 18‌ Pro models.
