The iPhone 18 Pro could improve on one of last year’s best features – 9to5Mac

The iPhone 17 Pro has been a huge hit, and one of its most impressive features is its battery life. However, rumors suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro could once again offer big battery gains thanks to three key upgrades.

iPhone 18 Pro: Three upgrades should increase battery life even more

Apple delivered the iPhone 17 Pro in style. Consumer demand has been “overwhelming”, according to CEO Tim Cook. And the recent quarterly results made that clear.

A fresh design, Cosmic Orange, camera improvements and the best battery life seem to be driving the popularity of the iPhone 17 Pro.

And on the battery front, the iPhone 18 Pro is said to take things to a whole new level with three upgrades:

  1. Physically larger battery
  2. A more efficient C2 modem
  3. A20 Pro chip

The physically larger battery is the most obvious evidence that the iPhone 18 Pro should achieve a new best-ever battery life.

Rumors suggest that Apple will once again increase the thickness of its Pro models to accommodate a larger battery. It’s possible that only the Pro Max will get a bigger battery, but both models seem more likely.

Beyond battery size, however, Apple’s silicon is expected to bring more battery-boosting help this year.

For starters, Apple is ditching Qualcomm 5G modems for its own C2 modem. Both the C1 and C1X have delivered notable improvements in energy efficiency, and the C2 should do the same.

Additionally, the new A20 Pro chip will be manufactured using the new 2nm process and WMCM packaging. And each of these innovations is expected to increase energy efficiency.

All of this could add up to offer some truly impressive improvements over the iPhone 17 Pro’s already fantastic battery life.
