A new report claims that Apple will repeat the vibrant color of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, offering options including a return to dark red for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but not the iPhone Fold.
Traditionally, lower-end iPhones can get bright colors like the purple iPhone 12, while Pro models have, with exceptions, more muted ones. Now according to Bloombergthe iPhone 18 Pro range will also be stronger than usual colors.
This is said to be specifically because the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max has reportedly been particularly popular in China. As a result, dark red is said to be under consideration as the color for the two Pro models in the iPhone 18 lineup.
It is also believed that Apple will keep the Cosmic Orange look since it is so popular. There are also allegedly claims of a purple or brown color, though Bloomberg he believes these are actually variants of the red that Apple is testing.
So they are not expected to be offered as colors when the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch. The same report also says that these brighter or more vibrant colors will not be used on the expected iPhone Fold.
Instead, the Fold will reportedly come in two colors. One is black or dark gray while the other is white or perhaps light silver.
This black or white color option for the iPhone Fold was reported earlier. But then a dark red Pro model for the iPhone 15 Pro was also predicted in 2023, and that didn’t appear.
There have been (PRODUCT)RED versions of the iPhone in the past. There was even one Mac Pro in color. It’s unclear how close the colors Apple is testing are, and that the red hue differs, if at all.
Separately, it was previously reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will not be visibly different from their predecessors. It’s said to be because the iPhone 17 Pro models have been so popular, but Apple isn’t waiting for one iPhone to come out before committing to the design of the next.
