The Justice Department has appealed the ruling on Google’s search monopoly

On Tuesday, the Justice Department and plaintiffs in the antitrust case against Google filed cross-appeals, the DOJ’s antitrust division announced in a post on

Just a few weeks ago, Google itself filed an appeal seeking a stay of remedies ordered last year by DC District Court Judge Amit Mehta. These remedies included requiring Google to share search data with its competitors and prohibiting Google from entering into exclusive distribution agreements for its search or AI products that could prevent distribution to competitors. However, Google ultimately did not have to sell its Chrome browser and was not prevented from paying distribution partners for preloading or premium placement of its search or AI products.

The Justice Department’s cross-appeal suggests neither side is fully satisfied with Judge Mehta’s decision in the case, or at least with the remedies ordered in September.
