The new Apple TV movie is a hit and it’s just the start of a big year ahead – 9to5Mac

The latest Apple TV movie, Eternity, proved to be an early hit after a week of launch, and a strong line-up of movies coming throughout the year should keep Apple’s movie success rolling.

Eternity beat F1: The Movie all week in the top Apple TV charts

The latest Apple TV movie Eternity arrived last week just in time for Valentine’s Day. And it has garnered a lot of views so far.

Eternity quickly pushed F1: The Movie to the top of the Apple TV movie charts.

I wasn’t surprised when it initially happened. A24 romantic comedy starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner released on Valentine’s weekend? Strike #1 seemed inevitable.

But what surprised me is how well his success has held up.

I expected Eternity to slip behind Apple’s biggest film of all time – F1 – in the top charts after its weekend boost. Yet even today, a full week after its release, it is still number one in the US.

In other words, it’s another hit for Apple — the latest in a string of successful movie launches.

A number of films coming to 2026 look set to continue this trend.

New Apple TV movies coming throughout 2026

Earlier this month, Apple held a star-studded media event to reveal some of the biggest TV shows and movies coming to Apple TV throughout 2026.

Five upcoming films were highlighted in the presentation and all of them have the potential to perform well.

Black comedy Result is in first place. It has an April 10 release date, stars Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz and Jonah Hill and has a unique plot.

Pickled comedy this summer Dink arrives July 24 as an “underdog laugher” starring Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris.

And this fall, Apple highlighted three big premieres:

  • Maydaybuddy comedy/action thriller starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, out September 4
  • Movie Matchboxthe action-adventure film starring John Cena and Jessica Biel, lands on October 9
  • Way of the Warrior Kid It stars Chris Pratt, Linda Cardellini and Jude Hill and opens on November 20

There are probably more movies in the works that haven’t been revealed yet. The five above were simply shown early because of the high profile cast members.

But even with just the titles that have been announced, it looks like Apple will build on the cinematic momentum it started last year.
