WhatsApp is finally working on scheduled messages – 9to5Mac

Meta finally brings scheduled messages to WhatsApp and provides one of the app’s most requested features. Here’s how it will work.

Yes, WhatsApp still doesn’t support it

As you noticed WABetaInfonew references found in the recent TestFlight WhatsApp beta suggest that Meta is laying the groundwork for introducing scheduled messages to the app.

According to the report, the feature is “currently under development and not yet available for beta testing.” However, they did share a screenshot of the Group Info interface, which includes a “Scheduled Messages” menu item just below the “Media, Links & Documents” and “Starred” options.

In recent years, scheduled messages have become a common feature in messaging apps, with Telegram and even iMessage offering the option. Meta, on the other hand, has yet to adopt this feature on WhatsApp, leading users to seek workarounds for creation such as relying on the Shortcuts app.

It is not yet clear whether WhatsApp Scheduled Messages will support features like Telegram’s “Repeat” option, which allows users to schedule automatic messages to be sent at regular intervals, making it a useful reminder alternative for certain repetitive workflows.

Still, this is welcome news for WhatsApp users, even though the feature is not yet available to TestFlight beta testers.

Ace WABetaInfo notes, “Once development is complete, the feature will be rolled out to select beta testers who can provide initial feedback and reports based on their experience,” ahead of the official release.
