YouTube was one of the biggest apps missing from the Vision Pro platform when it launched in February 2024. However, that changes today with the launch of the official YouTube app for visionOS.
YouTube for Vision Pro is here
When Vision Pro first launched, Google said it had a Vision Pro app on its plan, but suggested people use Safari in the meantime.
In the absence of an official YouTube app for Vision Pro, third-party options quickly appeared in the App Store. However, many were eventually removed after Google complained to Apple that the apps were violating its YouTube guidelines.
Starting today, Vision Pro users finally have the option to watch YouTube in a native app on visionOS.
The YouTube app for Apple Vision Pro includes access to standard YouTube features such as subscriptions, watch history, playlists, and YouTube Shorts. The app also supports watching 3D, 360-degree and VR180 videos. Vision Pro users can watch YouTube videos in embedded visionOS environments.
